Almost autumnwalk in shorts
It's almost autumn. Fresh mornings, little spiders in the plants on the balcony and shops full of mushrooms, chestnuts and pumpkins. Change of seasons makes that it is not too warm anymore for a good walk. After a long summer without our weekly wednesday event "The ladies who walk and lunch" met at the station for a short trainride to Santa Margherita Ligure. The sun is shining, temperature is about 25 C. Autumn seems far, far away.
The Parco di Portofino is expecting us. We noticed some fallen golden leafs (guess because it hasn't been raining for ages!)and the first acorns on a wood-path. A nice bit of climbing, a lot of talking, lots of water and the beautiful views on the sea and luxury yachts in front of the Portofino harbour.
What we ate? Incredable green minestrone (never seen it as green as this soup) with a good glass of white wine for a real fair price. Which is nearly unbelievable, actually it's a miracle in Portofino.
We decided to start our homejourney over sea. A short trip from Portofino to Rapallo. So far our first walk after summer will be remembered as a dream. We had another dream: good italian ice. Searching and searching in the station area. Strange enough we couldn't find a gelateria ...... Is this the Italy we know?
For me our first walk this season was a real treat (even without the icecream)! Today is likely a day too late to kickoff the walks and lunches. I'm going to finish my book on the couch. There is a thunderstorm, the streets are flooded and this seems not to end soon. Hopefully autumn has not really start today......
